Jacek Sikora – actor, painter and traveler. His artistic path has evolved from scenic art to visual arts and easel painting. He graduated from the Paris school of Etienne Decroux. He also studied anatomy at the Medical Academy in Wroclaw and Japanese calligraphy. Such characteristic features for the entire creativity of Jacek Sikora – minimalist color and striving to reduce detail can be found in his earliest works dated back to the Paris period. However, his later paintings, drawing inspiration not only from Far Eastern calligraphy but also Sumie-e, for the first time clearly situate his work on the borderline of formal and coloristic minimalism, figurativeness and abstraction, static and dynamics, subtlety and expression. In his works, the subject invariably succumbs to the composition while monochromatic figurativism evolves more and more clearly towards abstraction. Today, Sikora’s paintings can be found in collections in the United Kingdom, USA, Russia, Australia, France, Cyprus, the United Arab Emirates and Japan. He lives and works in Świdnica.
